Namba Unkai wraps Parks Garden in mist from 28 August to 1 November

Namba Unkai opened on 28 August and runs every evening through 1 November on Parks Garden, the rooftop of Namba Parks. Admission to watch the mist is free. Hours are 17:30 to 22:00. NANKAI is treating the first edition as a late-summer to autumn fixture, not a three-day stunt. Dotonbori's Ebisubashi is about a 10-minute walk north.

The garden covers about 11,500 square metres across floors 2 to 8, with roughly 500 plant species and 100,000 plantings after the 2024 hill rebuild. Mist starts on the hour and at :30, three minutes per terrace, climbing from the 2F entrance arch. Lighting shifts by floor: green, red, blue. At 21:00 every night, all spots fire together for about three minutes. That slot is Super Unkai Time.

Walk 2F to 8F, do not camp one landing

2F Entrance Arch is the gate, a green tunnel with mist falling down the stairs. 3F is Unkai BAR, a terrace with colour lighting and the only full food counter. 4F Wood Deck is for sitting on the timber steps. 5F Seseragi no Mori puts small mist at foot level over running water. 7F Red Canyon lights the slope terracotta. 8F Green Stage is the top sea of cloud, with lawn you can lie on. There is no 6F mist stop on the official map.

NANKAI's 29 July release said the idea came from Takeda Castle's real sea of clouds, using the mall's height instead of a mountain. Weekly Osaka Nichi Nichi printed 28 August as opening day. The special site nambaparks.com/nambaunkai is the live schedule if wind or humidity kills the effect. Strong wind strips the mist. Cold or dry air thins it. Storms cancel. Clothes get wet. The FAQ tells you to bring a towel and watch your footing on wet stairs.

500-yen lanterns and the 3F menu

Oboro lanterns rent for 500 yen from the 2F information counter. Two one-hour windows: 18:00-19:00 and 19:30-20:30. Book on Peatix (event 5128311). Cashless only. No changes after purchase. Rain can kill rentals even if the garden stays open. The lantern throws a pattern on the mist at your feet. It is a photo tool, not a souvenir you keep.

Takoya Dotonbori Kukuru and Rapoppo Farm run Unkai BAR on 3F, their first Parks Garden stall. Glowing Unkai colourful soda is 850 yen in blue, red, green, purple, or orange. Glowing fruit kakigori is 900 yen (strawberry milk, mango, blue Hawaii). Sweet potato fries with karaage, and churros with sweet potato doughnuts, are 850 yen. Large-octopus takoyaki is 1,040 yen. White Hato's 27 August release listed those prices. BAR spend does not earn Parks or CITY parking discounts or minapita points.

Family DAY, access, and Dotonbori timing

22 and 23 September (Silver Week) add daytime mist from 11:00, with Super Unkai at 14:00 and 21:00. That is the child-friendly window. Regular nights are better after 20:30 if you want the simultaneous blast without the 18:00 crush. A loop takes 30 to 60 minutes. Kitamura is running a photo contest later; dates were still TBA on the special site.

Nankai Namba Station is inside the complex. Midosuji and Sennichimae subway Namba are a short walk. Parks retail hours are 11:00-21:00, restaurants 11:00-22:00. Garden smoking is banned. Use 3F or 6F smoking rooms. Drones are banned. Tripods that block stairs get moved. From Ebisubashi walk south about 10 minutes. From Den Den Town walk west about four.
