About This Event / イベントについて

Hozenji is a small, centuries-old temple hidden in a narrow lane just steps from the noise of Dotonbori. Its main statue of Fudo-myoo is covered in a thick coat of moss — worshippers pour water over it year-round as they pray, giving the temple its signature green, living surface.

For hatsumode — the first temple visit of the New Year — the lane fills with a steady, contemplative stream of locals from January 1–3. It's a striking contrast: seconds from the neon and crowds of Dotonbori, yet deeply quiet. Many pair the visit with soba at the historic Hozenji-yokocho lane beside it.
