Temple cache refers to Hozen-ji, a Jodo-sect temple at 1-2-16 Namba in Osaka's Chuo Ward, tucked into the stone-paved Hozenji Yokocho alley just a minute's walk from Namba Station. It is beloved for its moss-covered statue of Fudo Myo-o, known as the Mizukake Fudo, which worshippers douse with water for good luck.

Despite the surrounding neon and noise of Dotonbori, the small precinct feels like an oasis, with the green-furred statue standing as a symbol of resilience after past fires and wartime damage. The temple office issues red-seal goshuin keepsakes, and the alley outside is lined with long-standing restaurants and bars that give the lane its retro atmosphere.
