A beloved Osaka yoshoku institution since 1943, serving comforting Western-style classics and the original anmitsu.
Shinsaibashi Mitsuya is an Osaka institution that began life as a pure coffee shop in 1943, later earning fame as the first in Kansai to serve anmitsu, the beloved Japanese wagashi-and-syrup dessert. Today, the brand remains a family favourite, having expanded its repertoire to include hearty yoshoku fare such as omurice, gratin, doria and hot-plate spaghetti. The Shinsaibashi main store, perched at the southern end of the Shinsaibashi-suji shopping arcade, has welcomed generations of diners with its retro-modern charm and a storefront famous for its rotating figurines. The menu is gloriously broad, running from the signature Mitsuya Rice - an indulgent collision of omurice, omuspa and tonkatsu - to crab croquette spaghetti and the popular pick-your-own Twins Set. Dessert is equally unmissable, with the original anmitsu and carefully crafted parfaits rounding off a meal that suits everyone from children to grandparents. With reasonable prices, WiFi and a welcoming atmosphere for families, it is a practical choice for lunch or a relaxed dinner whilst exploring central Osaka. Whether you are craving a nostalgic coffee, a comforting plate of yoshoku or a sweet treat after a day of shopping, Shinsaibashi Mitsuya serves up a genuine taste of Osaka's culinary heritage. Its enduring popularity is a testament to decades of honest cooking and warm hospitality. Step in from the arcade, settle into the retro surroundings, and savour a meal that has delighted locals for over eighty years.Operating Hours

Terrible service. It was a long weekend and the restaurant was packed. We wanted to sit down with our elderly relatives and kids before shopping, but ordering took a while and the staff kept pressuring us to place orders quickly.

The food was disappointing. I ordered omurice, and the only highlight was the egg. My parent and I couldn''t finish the meal, as shown in the photo. This is clearly a tourist-oriented restaurant. The staff also spoke loudly at times.

A spacious restaurant with ample seating, serving Japanese-inspired Western fare like tonkatsu over spaghetti.

Great Japanese restaurant. We visited for lunch with my family and enjoyed delicious food and excellent service.

We ordered tonkatsu with beef curry and rice, corn soup, and a hamburger with Japanese-style sauce. The Japanese-style sauce was quite tasty, while the other dishes were decent. Overall, the food was better than what you''d find at a US mall.
