Third-generation kushikatsu institution in Dotonbori since 1947.

Sandaime Dotombori Ikkyu is a kushikatsu (fried skewer) restaurant founded in 1947 (Showa 22), now run by its third-generation owner-chef. Located on Dotonbori's riverfront walk, the counter-only space seats 18 and serves both the traditional skewers inherited from the original shop and creative seasonal dishes that go beyond standard kushikatsu fare. Signature items include the spring roll gratin, filled with a house-made white sauce using prawn miso, and the avocado mentaiko mayo bake. The chef also serves Tottori Daisenjidori chicken grilled with yuzu kosho, and the classic kushikatsu sets remain the most popular starting point. The average dinner is around 4,000 yen, with drinks focused on selected shochu and Japanese sake. The intimate counter and the chef's personal interaction with guests create an atmosphere closer to a small cooking bar than a typical kushikatsu shop. For an authentic taste of postwar Osaka street food culture in a refined setting, Ikkyu is a quietly excellent choice.
