Komeda's Coffee is a much-loved Japanese cafe chain founded in Nagoya in 1968, now operating more than 940 shops across Japan and overseas. It is best known for its Shiro Noir, a warm Danish pastry topped with soft-serve ice cream, as well as its famously generous "morning service" sets that come free with a drink order before 11am. The Namba CITY branch occupies a spot on the first floor of the main Namba CITY building, just a minute's walk from Namba Station, and opens from 7am to 11pm daily. Beyond coffee, the menu features hearty sandwiches such as the miso katsu sandwich, thick-cut toast, desserts and seasonal specials, all served in spacious, homely surroundings with comfortable booth seating and counter spots for solo diners. The Namba CITY location makes it a convenient rendezvous for shoppers, families and early risers wanting a proper breakfast before hitting the arcades. Portion sizes are famously large, so come hungry. Pull up a seat, order a Shiro Noir while it is still warm, and settle into the unhurried, welcoming atmosphere that has made Komeda a household name across Japan. It is a cafe that genuinely wants you to linger.Operating Hours

On the final day of our Kansai trip, we finally got our Komeda coffee fix. We ordered toast with anko spread, added extra toast, and had a Viennese coffee.

Pros: The food is delicious. The shop is open from 7 am to 11 pm, making it a perfect spot to begin the day. It also has a charming retro atmosphere.

A great breakfast spot with a short wait. The restaurant seats about 30–40 guests and service moves at a comfortable pace. You can order a variety of items— toast, sandwiches, pancakes, burgers— and an English menu is available online.
