Kaizoku, whose name means 'pirate' in Japanese, is a casual restaurant and bar in Namba offering a playful maritime atmosphere and izakaya-style dining. It sits in a side street of the Namba district, close to the shops and nightlife of Dotonbori. The menu usually centres on Japanese pub favourites such as yakitori, fried dishes, sashimi, noodles and sharing plates, plus a drinks list of beer, highballs, shochu and cocktails. The pirate theme runs through the décor and often the presentation, making it a fun spot for groups or anyone looking for a themed night out.
Visit when your group wants something light-hearted after a day of sightseeing. The Namba location makes it easy to move on to bars, arcades or the Dotonbori lights afterwards.

Absolutely unwelcoming to foreigners. Despite seeing empty tables, the staff insisted there was a 45‑minute wait, and after we waited, they later told us there were no tables available. Two other groups arrived after us and were seated.

The food fell short of expectations and the prices were high—an oyster for 980 yen tasted like water. I couldn''t make a reservation because I don''t have a Japanese name, and when I arrived, they even forgot my rice order. I wouldn''t recommend this place to anyone.

The staff were very friendly and offered English menus via QR code, which was convenient. The steamed oysters were incredibly fresh and juicy—absolutely delicious—and the clams and ramen were also satisfying.

We visited for a second round, having never tried Japanese menus before. The seafood on offer was extremely fresh.

We stumbled upon this local seafood spot around 9:30 pm for a late dinner, and it didn''t disappoint. The service was friendly, the seafood was fresh, and the oysters were a must‑try for any oyster lover. Payment is cash only at the seat, the ordering system uses QR codes, there’s a 780 JPY cover charge per person, and the last order is at 10 pm.
