Hozenji is a Jodo-sect Buddhist temple founded in 1637 in the heart of Namba, famous for its moss-covered "water-pouring Fudo" statue that gives the surrounding Hozenji Yokocho alley its soul. Within the temple grounds sits the Ohatsu Daishin, linked to Okayama's Saijo Inari, one of several subsidiary deities enshrined here alongside the Konpira deity and a慈悲 Jizo. The Ohatsu Daishin takes its name from Ohatsu, the heroine of Monzaemon Chikamatsu's love-suicide play "Sonezaki Shinju", and has long been honoured by locals as a guardian of romance and devotion. The temple grounds are open day and night, and the narrow stone-paved yokocho that borders it preserves an old Osaka atmosphere quite unlike the neon of nearby Dotonbori. Visitors pour water on the Fudo statue, offer a prayer and collect a goshuin stamp, often combining the visit with a bowl of me-oto zenzai at the historic sweets shop opposite that inspired Osamu Dazai's novel. It suits anyone seeking a quiet, spiritual moment amid the bustle, or travellers interested in Osaka's literary and theatrical history. For a pause that feels centuries away from Dotonbori's glare, Hozenji and its Ohatsu Daishin offer a deeply atmospheric pocket of old Namba. A few quiet minutes here leave a lasting impression of Osaka's gentler, more romantic side.Based on 5 Google reviews

I think this is the only place with a water-sprinkling Fudo Myoo statue 🥰 …
