Hokkyoku Cafe is the home of Hokkyoku Ice, a handmade ice candy (popsicle) maker founded in Showa 20 - 1945 - just after the war, when its founder wished to give the children and women of Osaka something cold and sweet. From its Namba Ebisu-bashi shop, artisans still craft each bar by hand using carefully chosen ingredients. The original line-up of milk, azuki and pineapple has grown to include cocoa, strawberry, matcha, lemon and orange, each with the same nostalgic, gently sweet character that has defined the brand for over 80 years. An online shop and seasonal appearances at events such as Expo 2025 keep the name current. Few treats capture old Osaka so purely. A stop at Hokkyoku is a bite of the city's post-war story, still served one hand-made bar at a time.Based on 335 Google reviews
