Bar BASE at Dotonbori, Osaka

A late-night Shinsaibashi bar with electric shisha, 100-plus drinks and a hidden-basecamp feel.

Bar BASE opened in December 2023 in the basement of the Nippo Fine Plaza building on Shinsaibashisuji, and it has quickly established itself as a versatile late-night spot. The bar stocks more than a hundred drinks, including a strong tequila and cocktail selection, and was among the first in Kansai to offer electric shisha, with twelve flavours ranging from double apple to pink lemonade. The interior was fully renovated before opening, with a counter seating six and a box section that can accommodate up to eighteen guests. Karaoke is available, making it suitable for both quiet drinks and livelier gatherings. A large mocktail menu ensures that non-drinkers are equally well catered for, and English-speaking staff make international visitors feel at home. Open Monday to Saturday from nine in the evening until five in the morning, Bar BASE is a genuine late-night basecamp in the heart of Shinsaibashi. It is a friendly, well-equipped spot to round off a night out in Minami Osaka.
