Antica Osteria Dal Spello is a hidden Italian restaurant minutes from Namba station, where the kitchen draws fish from the Osaka Kizu wholesale market and pairs it with Italian-sourced ingredients and a charcoal grill. The room is small, with four counter seats and two tables, and the chef personally tastes and selects each wine on the list. Courses run from a 4,800 yen Luce set with a drink to an 8,800 yen Stagione fish-and-meat course, and the a la carte spans caponata, trippa alla romana, wagyu bistecca and a notably rich chocolate dessert. Lunch is served on weekdays, dinner to 11pm, closed Tuesdays. For a genuine Italian meal with serious wine in an intimate Namba setting, Spello is a quietly excellent choice.
