After five days of nonstop Japanese cuisine, we craved something different. While exploring Dotonbori, we noticed an Indian restaurant sign and went up to the second floor.

Mithila Restaurant is a long-standing Indian dining spot on the second floor of the Hiramatsu Ogiya Building along Dotonbori, just a short stroll from the famous Glico running-man sign in Osaka's Chuo Ward. It is well known for authentic North and South Indian cuisine, with buttered chicken and vegetarian curries drawing steady crowds of locals and travellers. The kitchen caters carefully to vegetarian and Jain diets, offering a reassuring option for plant-based diners in a district better known for meaty street food. Opening hours run from morning until late evening, with wheelchair access and a relaxed sit-down setting that suits families, couples and solo visitors alike. If you are craving a warming, spice-laden curry after exploring the neon-lit canal, Mithila makes a friendly and convenient stop in the heart of Dotonbori.
