KEC Nihongogakuin Namba is a Japanese-language teacher training school on the fourth floor of the Taiyo Life Namba Building at 2-1-2 Namba, run by the KEC Education Group. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Hirakata, KEC established its Nihongogakuin brand in 1998 to train professional nihongo kyōshi (Japanese-language teachers), with the Namba campus opening in 2010. The school's courses prepare students for the national Japanese-Language Teaching Competency Test, with a reported pass rate of around 84 percent among its students and graduates, and the curriculum is built around compact, self-produced teaching materials and small-class instruction. The Namba campus runs morning, daytime and evening courses on weekdays plus Saturday morning and daytime slots, allowing working adults to fit study around a job. Students can complete the course in six months (three sessions a week) or nine months (an intensive three-month phase followed by a lighter six-month phase), with new intakes most commonly starting in January, April, July and October. It suits career-changers aiming to teach Japanese to foreign learners, current classroom assistants seeking formal qualification, and anyone wanting a structured, part-time route into Japanese-language education in central Osaka. Located minutes from Namba Station in the heart of Minami, the Namba campus is one of several KEC Nihongogakuin branches across the Kansai and Kantō regions. For anyone who has ever taught a phrase of Japanese to a visiting friend and wondered about doing it properly, KEC Namba is a practical place to start.
