Fiore, whose name means "flower" in Italian, is a hidden 14-seat Italian on the second floor of the 213 Building in Shinsaibashi, tucked at the end of the lane known locally as Michelin-dori. The chef trained at a first-rank restaurant before opening here in 2016, and the cooking lives up to the name with plates that resemble blooms, built around seasonal market produce. The signature Kawachi duck carpaccio, charcoal-grilled fish and hand-cut squid-ink tagliolini anchor a course-only menu, with a la carte available after 9.30pm. The room opens from 6pm to 1am or 2am, with counter and table seating, private hire and birthday plates. For a beautiful, seasonal Italian meal in a genuinely hidden setting, Fiore is one of Shinsaibashi's quietly treasured addresses.
