About This Event / イベントについて
The 彦八まつり (Hikohachi Matsuri) celebrates Yonezawa Hikohachi, the Edo-period storyteller regarded as the founder of Kamigata rakugo — Osaka's tradition of comic storytelling. Over two days at Ikutama Shrine, the grounds fill with yose (pop-up rakugo theaters), street performances, and food stalls.
It's a distinctly Osaka autumn celebration of laughter — rakugo performances run throughout the day, and the atmosphere is relaxed, photogenic, and family-friendly. Entry is free, though popular yose sessions have limited seating.
